Former U.S. President Barack Obama has officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her campaign to challenge Republican contender Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election on November 5th.
“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris. We told her that we believed she would make a fantastic President of the United States and that she had our full support,” Obama announced on the social media platform X.
Kamala Harris has surged to the forefront of American politics following President Joe Biden’s decision not to seek a second term in the White House. Biden immediately threw his support behind his vice president, and she has since garnered endorsements from several influential figures within the Democratic Party.
Political analysts suggest that Obama’s endorsement significantly boosts the momentum of Harris’s campaign. Harris has expressed her readiness to debate Donald Trump, stating on Thursday that she is prepared for the challenge.
In response, the Republican presidential candidate deemed it “inappropriate” to schedule a face-off with Harris until she is officially nominated by the Democratic Party.
