Borj Fez has reopened after a major renovation that adds more than 2,500 square metres of new sports and leisure space, giving shoppers more reasons to visit beyond retail. The project includes a redesigned interior, updated architecture and a new layout to make it easier for visitors to move around the shopping centre.
“Borj Fez is reinventing itself and confirming its status as the premier commercial destination in the Fez-Meknes region,” Aradei Capital said.
The company added: “The customer experience is enhanced with a smoother visitor flow and a more diverse universe.”
Borj Fez opened in 2013 and sits on Avenue Allal El Fassi between the old medina and the modern part of Fez. It serves the Fez-Meknes region, which has more than four million people.
The shopping centre covers about 75,000 square metres across four floors. Its gross leasable area was around 25,800 sq m before the latest expansion. It now includes more than 2,500 sq m of additional space for sports and family entertainment.
Around 80 shops operate at the centre, including Adidas and Virgin Megastore. A 6,000 sq m Carrefour hypermarket is the main anchor tenant. Borj Fez also has a food court with more than 15 restaurants and cafés, outdoor terrace seating, a Fun Park for families and a large parking area.
The renovation is part of a wider move by shopping centres to combine retail with entertainment and leisure as they try to attract more visitors throughout the week.
Aradei Capital, listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange under the ticker ADI, owns and manages more than 50 commercial properties in over 30 cities across the country. Its portfolio covers more than 500,000 sq m of gross leasable area.
