Casablanca airport surges past 11 million travelers, eyes 20M by 2030

Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport has reached a historic milestone in 2025, surpassing 11 million annual passengers for the first time ever. This major leap is largely credited to the momentum generated by the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), which positioned the airport as Morocco’s primary international gateway during the tournament.

Passenger traffic soared to 11.5 million this year, up from 10.5 million in 2024—an increase of 9.3%. The surge was fueled by the influx of international visitors, national team delegations, and thousands of football fans traveling to attend the CAN, along with the launch of several new air routes to Casablanca that expanded the airport’s reach.

Now handling 31% of Morocco’s total air traffic, Mohammed V Airport has cemented its status as the country’s central aviation hub. This growth aligns with the goals of the “Airports 2030” strategy, a national initiative focused on expanding airport capacity, upgrading infrastructure, and enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Looking ahead, Casablanca is setting its sights on 12.5 million passengers in 2026, with a long-term ambition to exceed 20 million by 2030. The success driven by CAN 2025 has not only tested but also proven the airport’s ability to support large-scale international events while helping sustain the continued growth of Morocco’s aviation sector.
