A major new tech hub is set to take shape in the Sidi Othmane district of Casablanca, signaling a bold move to modernize the city’s urban landscape and boost its regional economy. Named “Casablanca Tech Valley,” the project is the result of a newly forged partnership between the city council and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion Group, a powerful public investment institution in Morocco.

The development will be overseen by Ewane, a subsidiary of CDG, and is designed to expand upon the footprint of the existing Casa Nearshore park. This next-phase initiative is part of a larger strategy to not only enhance the city’s competitiveness, but also to correct the uneven growth between different neighborhoods in Casablanca. City officials say they aim to make the area more appealing to investors, while addressing the needs of a population caught in the crosshairs of rapid urban transformation.

The agreement was formally signed by Casablanca’s mayor, Nabila Rmili, and CDG’s director general, Khalid Safir, during a ceremony attended by Mohamed Mhidia, the regional governor. The project is being pitched as more than just another business zone; it’s envisioned as a new identity for Casablanca—forward-looking, inclusive, and focused on industries that offer high economic value.

Beyond its economic ambitions, Casablanca Tech Valley is also part of a larger vision to tackle pressing urban planning challenges. The site lies in the prefecture of Moulay Rachid, within the fast-growing Sidi Othmane district, where rising land demand has complicated efforts to manage urban expansion.

Planners see the project as a driver of citywide change, rooted in a holistic vision that blends innovation, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. It’s expected to relieve pressure on already overcrowded business zones, while adhering to modern ecological standards and promoting smarter, more balanced development.
