Casablanca will host the 17th edition of its marathon on 25 October, with thousands of runners expected to take part. The 2026 edition comes with a new name, a World Athletics Elite Label and a new inclusion initiative. Crédit du Maroc is the official naming partner, making the event the Crédit du Maroc Casablanca Marathon.
“We are very happy to associate the name of Crédit du Maroc with that of the Casablanca marathon. Our commitment to this city does not date from today. Casablanca is at the heart of our history, our development and our proximity with our clients,” said Ali Benkirane, chairman of the bank’s management board.
“This choice reflects our conviction that sport has this unique capacity to bring together and create connection. A marathon is thousands of people moving forward together, each at their own pace, with the same goal. This is exactly what we want to celebrate with the Crédit du Maroc Casablanca Marathon: a city that moves, that transforms and that moves forward every day,” he added.
The 2026 event uses the theme “Vibe Casa”, which focuses on the energy, movement and diversity of Casablanca.
“On October 25, Casablanca runs. And Casablanca vibrates,” said Bouchta El Fadel, president of the Association des Coureurs du Grand Casablanca (ACGC).
“Our ambition is to consolidate its image as a reference on a regional scale, to make it an event that contributes to the influence of the Kingdom and its economic capital, but also a popular gathering capable of bringing together the whole city,” he said.
The marathon has received the World Athletics Elite Label this year. Both the full marathon and half-marathon are included in the World Athletics Label Road Races 2026 calendar.
The label means the races must meet international standards covering organisation, safety, race rules and anti-doping measures.
A redesigned course will take runners through several well-known parts of Casablanca, including Ain Diab, El Hank and Anfa.
The main marathon covers 42.195km and starts at 07:00. The half-marathon covers 21.097km and starts at 08:15. The relay has four runners, with each covering 10.5km, and starts at 07:15.
The event will also introduce the Challenge 421. The initiative will give people with disabilities the chance to complete the final 421 metres of the course and cross the same finish line on the same day as the other runners. Organisers describe it as a first in Morocco.
The official Marathon Village at Espace Sacré-Cœur will open from 21 to 24 October. Runners will be able to collect their race bibs, visit partner stands and attend sessions on environmental responsibility.
Medical teams will be deployed across the course on race day. The system includes 16 doctors, 24 nurses and 12 equipped ambulances. Automated external defibrillators will be placed every 2km.
A dedicated command centre will coordinate the medical response, with a target maximum response time of four minutes.
