Casablanca has opened a new underground car park in the Anfa district, in a project aimed at easing traffic and improving public space.

The facility was launched by Agence d’Urbanisation et de Développement d’Anfa. It has two levels, covers around 46,000 square metres, and can hold up to 1,500 cars. Officials say it is one of the biggest underground car parks built in the city in recent years.

The project cost about 270 million dirhams. It comes as demand for parking grows in Anfa, which has seen rapid development, with offices, schools and new homes being built in the area.

The aim is to reduce pressure on surface roads and allow more space above ground for pedestrians and public areas. Authorities say this will help improve the quality of life in the neighbourhood.

The development is part of wider changes in Anfa, in Casablanca, where major urban projects have been reshaping the district in recent years. The work is linked to investment support from Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion.

The agency also plans to carry out surveys to gather feedback from visitors and residents, as it looks to improve services and support the area’s continued growth.
