Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport has officially launched a state-of-the-art operational command center, marking a major step forward in Morocco’s efforts to modernize its airport infrastructure. The new facility, known as the APOC (Airport Operational Center), is designed to streamline operations, boost coordination, and ensure smoother travel experiences—especially ahead of major upcoming events.
Strategically located within the airport complex, the APOC brings together all key players involved in airport operations under one roof. This includes representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, National Security, the Royal Gendarmerie, Customs, airlines, ground handling services, the airport operator, air traffic control, and various technical and IT teams.
Operating 24/7, the center oversees every critical aspect of airport management. From directing aircraft movements and managing runways and parking stands, to handling baggage systems, coordinating security checks, monitoring passenger flows, managing internal transportation, and overseeing parking areas—nothing is left to chance. The APOC also supervises infrastructure maintenance and ensures that security systems are running at full capacity.
The center’s mission is twofold. First, to improve the passenger experience by cutting wait times and providing real-time information throughout the journey. Second, to enhance coordination between all stakeholders, reducing delays and streamlining decision-making for airlines and airport staff alike.
With traffic at Mohammed V Airport growing by more than 12% annually, the complexity of managing daily operations has increased significantly. The APOC is part of a broader strategic plan called “Airports 2030,” which aims to modernize Morocco’s airport network to meet international standards and future demand.
Its opening also comes at a pivotal moment. With Morocco set to host the Africa Cup of Nations, the center is expected to play a critical role in managing the surge in passenger traffic and ensuring the airport delivers a seamless, high-quality experience for travelers from across the continent and beyond.
