The Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE) has officially renewed its leadership team for 2025, in line with its organic law and internal regulations. The process took place in two key phases: first, the election of representatives from the Council’s five constituent categories during its 167th Ordinary General Assembly on February 20, followed by the selection of the presidents for its seven permanent commissions on February 26.
Following these elections, the CESE’s 2025 leadership team is as follows, alongside President Ahmed Reda Chami:
- Abdelmaksoud Rachidi, representing the category of experts.
- Mustafa Khlafa, representing the most influential labor unions.
- Abdellah Deguig, representing professional organizations and associations.
- Karima Mkika, representing organizations working in social economy and associative activities.
- Othmane Gayer, representing institutions and entities specified under Article 11 of Organic Law No. 128-12.
Heads of permanent commissions
The Council also elected the presidents of its permanent commissions, who will lead discussions and formulate recommendations within their respective fields:
- Mouncef Ziani, head of the Commission on Economic Affairs and Strategic Projects.
- Najat Simou, head of the Commission on Employment and Labor Relations.
- Jaouad Chouaib, head of the Commission on Social Affairs and Solidarity.
- Mohamed Benkaddour, head of the Commission on Environment and Sustainable Development.
- Ahmed Abaddi, head of the Commission on Knowledge and Information Society.
- Lahcen Oulhaj, head of the Commission for Economic, Social, and Environmental Analysis.
- Abdessadek Saidi, head of the Commission on Advanced Regionalization and Rural and Territorial Development.
Strengthening CESE’s work with rapporteurs
To further support the Council’s work, each commission has appointed a rapporteur responsible for summarizing discussions and facilitating internal debates:
- Ali Ghannam, rapporteur for the Commission on Economic Affairs and Strategic Projects.
- Mohammed Moustaghfir, rapporteur for the Commission on Employment and Labor Relations.
- Mohamed Dahmani, rapporteur for the Commission on Social Affairs and Solidarity.
- Abderrahim Laabaid, rapporteur for the Commission on Environment and Sustainable Development.
- Latifa Benwakrim, rapporteur for the Commission on Knowledge and Information Society.
- Abdelmaksoud Rachdi, rapporteur for the Commission for Economic, Social, and Environmental Analysis.
- Mina Rouchati, rapporteur for the Commission on Advanced Regionalization and Rural and Territorial Development.
With this newly structured leadership team, the CESE aims to strengthen its ability to guide the country through major economic, social, and environmental reforms. The year 2025 is expected to bring large-scale initiatives, particularly as the nation navigates critical challenges related to ecological transition, employment, and regional development—issues that demand innovative and well-adapted solutions.
