British mining company Critical Mineral Resources has taken a significant technical step forward in its Moroccan exploration efforts, announcing the successful completion of its first diamond drill hole in the area known as “Zone 1 North.” This milestone, achieved using its newly commissioned drilling rig, marks the beginning of an accelerated exploration program set to run through 2026.

By deploying its own Multi-Power Discovery HD drill rig, the company gains greater control over its operations while reducing reliance on external contractors. This in-house capability not only cuts costs but also gives the London-based junior miner the flexibility to adapt and expand its program as needed.

The rig has already proven effective in handling both carbonate and igneous rock formations and offers the capacity to reach deeper mineral targets if required. The company is particularly focused on locating the source of mineralized rhyolite, a potential indicator of valuable critical metals—resources that are increasingly in demand worldwide amid the global transition to green technologies.

A local operations team is already on the ground in Morocco to support the next phases of drilling. Critical Mineral Resources continues to emphasize Morocco’s geological potential as a key supplier of strategic minerals, positioning itself to tap into one of North Africa’s most promising resource zones.

Despite this operational success, the company’s shares dipped 12% on Thursday afternoon to 2.50 pence on the London Stock Exchange, although it still boasts a 67% increase over the past year.
