Dari Couspate, Morocco’s leading producer of couscous and pasta, has taken a significant step in its industrial growth by acquiring the entire industrial assets of its long-time supplier, Les Grandes Semouleries du Maroc S.A. (GSM). The offer, recently accepted by GSM, marks a major milestone in Dari’s strategy to strengthen its supply chain and market position.
This acquisition includes a state-of-the-art durum wheat semolina mill located in Casablanca, boasting an impressive production capacity of 240 tons per day. By bringing this key infrastructure under its control, Dari Couspate aims to enhance its operational efficiency through vertical integration, securing a critical component of its raw material supply.
For Dari Couspate, this move is driven by strategic imperatives. “This acquisition will enable us to secure our raw material supply, create operational synergies, and better anticipate the challenges of an ever-evolving market,” the company stated in an official release. With the food industry facing increasing volatility, Dari sees this integration as a proactive step toward stabilizing and strengthening its long-term development.
Beyond securing resources, the company also views the acquisition as an opportunity to further promote Moroccan excellence in the food sector. “We are committed to showcasing national expertise and enhancing the competitiveness of our industrial sector,” Dari Couspate emphasized. The acquisition aligns with the company’s broader vision to elevate Morocco’s agri-food industry to international standards.
Despite the promising outlook, the acquisition process must navigate several crucial steps, including due diligence procedures and obtaining regulatory approvals. Both parties have set a target date of March 26, 2025, to finalize the transaction.
Through this strategic move, Dari Couspate reaffirms its leadership in Morocco’s agri-food sector and strengthens its position as a key player capable of tackling the industry’s evolving challenges. The acquisition represents a decisive milestone in consolidating its market standing both locally and internationally.
