Direct flights from Montreal to Agadir begin June 2026

Starting June 12, 2026, Canadian airline Air Transat will launch the first-ever direct flight connecting Montreal to Agadir, opening up a brand-new route to the southern Moroccan coast. Operating every Friday, this weekly service represents a key move in Morocco’s ongoing push to strengthen its footprint in the North American travel market.

This new route is the result of several months of negotiations between Air Transat and the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). For Agadir, it’s a milestone: direct access to a North American audience that, until now, had been largely untapped. Beyond simply linking two cities, the route is a strategic tool to elevate Agadir’s role as a gateway to Morocco’s Atlantic coast.

The selection of Air Transat is no coincidence. Headquartered in Montreal, the airline has carved out a strong reputation in the leisure travel sector. It was recently named the world’s best leisure airline by Skytrax—for the third consecutive year. The Montreal–Agadir route will be served by the Airbus A321LR, a next-generation long-range aircraft praised for its extended range, passenger comfort, and fuel efficiency.

Between January and August 2025, more than 174,000 Canadian tourists visited Morocco—a 29% jump compared to the previous year. That surge has positioned Canada as a crucial market in ONMT’s broader international expansion strategy. Following the success of the Montreal–Marrakech route launched in 2024, this new direct flight further cements growing ties between Morocco and North America.

But this initiative goes far beyond improved air travel. It’s also part of a broader goal to rebalance tourist flows across the country. With this new link, the Souss-Massa region stands to gain in multiple ways—from increased hotel bookings to local economic development and job creation.

The arrival of a regular transatlantic flight in Agadir is more than just a logistical improvement. It’s a strategic leap forward in Morocco’s efforts to reduce seasonal tourism fluctuations and diversify its source markets.
