Essaouira is about to take flight in a big way. Starting April 2025, three new direct air routes will connect the charming coastal city to Paris, Lyon, and Nantes. With two to three weekly flights planned for each destination, Essaouira is set to strengthen its position as a key player in Moroccan tourism.

The first of these new connections kicks off in April, with Ryanair launching direct flights between Essaouira and Paris-Beauvais. This move comes in response to growing demand from travelers drawn to Essaouira’s allure, as confirmed by the management of Essaouira-Mogador Airport.

In May 2025, EasyJet will restore the Lyon-Saint Exupéry to Essaouira route, a service that had been paused during the COVID-19 pandemic. The relaunch is seen as a significant step in reconnecting travelers from southeastern France to Morocco’s “City of Trade Winds.”

July will see Transavia linking Essaouira to Nantes, opening the door for visitors from western France to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site. These flights will make Essaouira more accessible than ever to French tourists eager for its blend of culture, history, and ocean breezes.

“These new air links are part of a broader strategy to enhance Essaouira’s tourism appeal and improve connectivity with key French destinations,” explained Abdelmounaim Aoutoul, the director of Essaouira-Mogador Airport.

The announcement follows a record-breaking 2024 for the city, which welcomed over a million visitors. According to airport statistics, passenger traffic soared to 171,892 in the first nine months of 2024, up nearly 30% from the same period in 2023.

Essaouira-Mogador Airport is already connected to major European cities and offers domestic flights to destinations like Tangier. Known for its efficiency and friendly atmosphere, the airport provides a hassle-free experience with quick security and check-in processes.

Essaouira’s charm, enhanced by its growing accessibility, is sure to attract even more visitors in the coming years. Whether for its bustling medina, historic ramparts, or stunning beaches, the city continues to captivate travelers from around the globe.
