Egypt eases entry for Moroccans in major shift toward closer ties

Moroccan citizens will now find it much easier to travel to Egypt, thanks to a new policy introduced by the Egyptian Embassy in Rabat. In a move aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries, Egypt has relaxed its visa requirements for Moroccan nationals.

Under the new rules, Moroccans who hold valid visas or residence permits for a select list of countries—including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and any Schengen Area state—can now obtain a visa upon arrival in Egypt. This eliminates the need to apply for entry in advance through Egyptian consular services.

The visa-on-arrival option is also being extended to Moroccans living in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. According to the Egyptian Embassy, this change underscores Cairo’s desire to deepen human and economic connections with Morocco and reflects a broader diplomatic push to improve bilateral cooperation.
