On Tuesday in Fès, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit announced the upcoming implementation of an urgent action plan as part of the preparations for Morocco’s spiritual city to host the final stages of the 2030 World Cup.

Chairing a broad meeting dedicated to Morocco’s preparations for this global competition, and in the presence of Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Mr. Laftit emphasized the need for an innovative approach in designing this action plan. This approach will focus on material, logistical, and infrastructure aspects, aligning with FIFA’s requirements.

Minister Laftit underscored the commitment of the Ministry of the Interior to provide all necessary means and resources to accelerate the deployment of this “urgent action plan” and ensure its optimal implementation as swiftly as possible.

He highlighted that the goal is to create an actionable plan that will be realized through numerous local agreements. Stressing the importance of the timing of this meeting, he noted it offers an opportunity to delve deeper into essential projects (transportation, accommodation, connectivity, sports infrastructure) and to tackle the challenges in each strategic domain. The discussion also aimed to outline measures to meet FIFA’s standards.

Mr. Laftit announced the scheduling of regular periodic meetings to monitor the implementation of this action plan. He called on all stakeholders to fully commit to executing this project in line with the High Royal Directives.

He recalled that this meeting, marking the first in a series of regional encounters, follows an extensive meeting held two months ago in Rabat. This earlier meeting was part of intense preparations for organizing the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, in accordance with the Royal Vision and Ambition to ensure the event’s significant success.

The Minister deemed it “imperative” to focus on the actions of local stakeholders, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and the FRMF, to streamline efforts towards achieving the set goals.
