Fondation Banque Populaire has completed new classrooms and other upgrades at Abdellah Ben Hussein Middle School in Tameslohte, giving nearly 1,700 students more space and better facilities.
The project includes two new classrooms to help reduce overcrowding, new sanitation blocks, a fully equipped computer lab, a renovated teachers’ lounge and a botanical garden for outdoor learning.
The school serves Tameslohte and nearby rural communities in Al Haouz province. It has almost 1,700 students and has faced growing pressure on its classrooms and facilities.
The new classrooms will increase the school’s capacity and ease congestion. The new sanitation blocks are expected to improve hygiene for students and staff.
The computer lab gives students access to digital tools and skills that are often harder to find in semi-rural areas. The upgraded teachers’ lounge provides a better workspace for educators.
Students will also use the new botanical garden to learn about biodiversity, plants and environmental protection through practical activities.
Fondation Banque Populaire was created in 1984 and is the country’s first foundation set up by a bank. It supports projects in education, local development and sustainable development.
The Tameslohte project is part of its work to improve public schools and help reduce the gap in educational opportunities between rural and urban areas. It also supports national efforts to modernise school infrastructure and improve learning conditions for students across the country.
