Morocco has achieved “very concrete” results in terms of inclusion to reach an enrolment rate of 90% for refugee and migrant children, stressed, Friday in Rabat, the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Morocco, François Reybet-Degat.
Reybet-Degat was speaking at a press briefing on the occasion of the signing of a partnership agreement between UNHCR and ESSEC Business School.
The UN official also highlighted the efforts made by Morocco in terms of protection and assistance to refugees for whom the Kingdom is now a land of welcome, including through its inclusive approach enshrined in the National Policy on Immigration and Asylum.
He also mentioned the action undertaken in favor of the integration and inclusion of refugees.
For his part, the Director of ESSEC Business School – Africa Campus, Hugues Levecq said that “Morocco has worked hard as part of its openness to Africa to help these people (migrants) to rebuild a more secure and promising future, noting that it is with this intention that the two parties to this partnership aim to bring together their respective skills to train and educate students on the issue of refugees and “offer them academic supervision and coaching in entrepreneurship so they can be active and contributing to the ecosystem in which they develop”.
Thanks to the involvement of a multiplicity of actors including higher education structures, this partnership, which will be established over a period of three years, aims to contribute to the training, human development and socio-economic integration of refugees in Morocco to enable them to rebuild fully in their host country, according to a joint statement from both parties.
As part of this partnership, which coincides with the commemoration of the World Refugee Day celebrated on June 20 of each year, UNHCR Morocco and ESSEC are committed to carrying out awareness-raising workshops on the theme and issues of asylum and refugee rights for the benefit of students as well as promoting the integration of these populations within the framework of activities organized by the school’s associations.
