French company Touax says Morocco is an important part of its business, especially as it tries to cut emissions and move towards cleaner energy.

Touax rents out transport equipment like freight wagons and also builds modular structures. It manages about €1.2bn in assets, with around 700,000 wagons in Europe and 335,000 in India. Part of its modular construction work is done in Morocco.

The company has installed solar panels at its Moroccan site to lower energy use. It says its transport services helped avoid 1.37 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Modular buildings are a big part of Touax’s plan. The company says they produce 43% less emissions than traditional construction. These buildings are made in factories, which reduces waste, and they can be reused or moved instead of being thrown away.

Morocco is also used as a base to export these units to Africa and Europe. Its location near Tanger Med port helps cut transport time and emissions.

Touax received strong environmental and social ratings, scoring 81 out of 100 from EcoVadis and 79 from EthiFinance. These scores help attract investors who focus on sustainability.
