A major Moroccan bank is preparing to overhaul its systems through a new partnership with OpenWay, a global leader in payment solutions. While the bank’s name has yet to be disclosed, the deal represents OpenWay’s first venture into North Africa.
Under the agreement, the bank will implement Way4, a platform recognized by Gartner and Datos for its flexibility and high performance. The technology brings together card and digital wallet management, account-to-account transfers, merchant acquiring, and support for payments in both cryptocurrencies and central bank digital currencies. It processes transactions in real time, meets rigorous security and compliance standards, and allows financial institutions to launch new products quickly.
To support the rollout, OpenWay will establish a dedicated team in Morocco. This new operational hub will also serve Tunisia and will draw on the company’s global network as well as its existing partnerships across sub-Saharan Africa.
Jean Philippe Wolyniec, OpenWay’s regional sales director, stressed the importance of collaboration, noting that Africa’s growth depends on working together to design solutions that are both inclusive and dependable.
