The Moroccan Competition Council has approved the creation of a joint venture (JV) between OCP Group and Fortescue, aimed at advancing green energy development in Morocco. This decision, made during the meeting on July 24th, paves the way for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia, intended for both energy production and the manufacturing of environmentally friendly fertilizers.
The joint venture will be a newly established Moroccan entity focused on developing assets dedicated to green energy production, with a particular emphasis on green hydrogen and ammonia as well as green fertilizers. This initiative aligns with the goals of both companies to promote sustainable and eco-friendly industrial practices.
In addition to energy production, the JV will concentrate on upstream and downstream industrial development, along with technological research and development activities.
OGE, a subsidiary of OCP, specializes in the production and commercialization of electricity from renewable sources. Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), a UK-based company, is dedicated to the research, development, and production of green electricity, hydrogen, ammonia, and other green industrial products derived from renewable energy sources.
