The Stade Rennais is reportedly in advanced negotiations to secure the services of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech. Determined to strengthen their attacking line this winter, the Ligue 1 club has opened serious discussions with the player’s representatives. According to Turkish media, Rennes is preparing a concrete offer to convince Galatasaray to release the playmaker.
Arriving in Turkey last summer from Chelsea, Ziyech has struggled to make an impact at Galatasaray. Limited by injuries and a lack of confidence from coach Okan Buruk, the Moroccan midfielder has played only five league matches this season, contributing a single assist. His brief cameo in the 87th minute during the Europa League clash against Malmö further highlights his current struggles.
This challenging period has cost Ziyech his spot in the Moroccan national team. Coach Walid Regragui chose to leave him out of recent call-ups for the Atlas Lions, raising concerns about his form and fitness. A transfer away from Galatasaray could provide the much-needed reset for Ziyech to regain his place as a starter for both club and country.
Among Ziyech’s potential suitors, Rennes seems to be the frontrunner. While there were rumors of an offer from the United States, the player reportedly favors a return to Ligue 1, a league he knows well from his time at AJ Auxerre between 2014 and 2016.
Rennes coach Jorge Sampaoli is reportedly eager to bring Ziyech into the fold, viewing him as the creative force capable of injecting flair and dynamism into the team’s attack.
