After a distinguished 35-year career with Accor, Hamid Bentahar is stepping down from his roles as President of Accor Africa Services and Accor Gestion Maroc. While leaving these leadership positions, Bentahar will continue to lend his expertise to Accor as an external consultant, supporting the group’s ongoing transformation and expansion efforts in Morocco.

Bentahar’s career within Accor has been marked by a series of high-profile responsibilities, both in Morocco and abroad. His diverse roles spanned from overseeing leisure services and hotel management in Turkey and Greece, to leading executive training programs in Paris, and later, directing Accor’s hotel operations in Tunisia. His most recent role involved managing the group’s Moroccan operations, a significant position that solidified his status as a leader in Morocco’s tourism sector.

His departure comes as Accor restructures its Moroccan activities, creating two new divisions to manage its hotel portfolio based on distinct categories. This strategic shift aims to enhance the group’s ability to meet the diverse needs of travelers in the region.

In addition to his role with Accor, Hamid Bentahar has been a prominent figure in Morocco’s tourism industry. He serves as President of both the National Confederation of Tourism and the Marrakech Regional Tourism Council. His contributions have not gone unrecognized; he was awarded France’s prestigious Gold Medal for Tourism in 2010, and in 2016, he was named a Knight of the Legion of Honor, acknowledging his significant contributions to the tourism sector.

As Bentahar enters this new phase of his career, he is expected to continue shaping Morocco’s tourism landscape through his consultancy work with Accor, while also remaining open to new opportunities within the industry.
