Hassan II University in Casablanca has once again earned international recognition, securing a spot in the 2025 Shanghai Ranking for the second consecutive year. This prestigious list, compiled by the Academic Ranking of World Universities, highlights the top 1,000 institutions around the globe—and this year, Hassan II remains Morocco’s sole representative, placing within the 901–1000 range.

This inclusion signals more than just a ranking milestone. It’s a clear affirmation of the university’s academic and scientific direction. In the field of biological sciences, the institution has climbed even higher, earning a place among the top 301 to 400 universities worldwide. That performance reflects the strength and impact of its research teams, particularly in a discipline with growing global importance.

University president Houssine Azeddoug sees the achievement as the result of a collective effort. He points to it not as an endpoint, but as a significant step forward in an ongoing mission to enhance the quality of academic programs, elevate research output, and raise Morocco’s profile in the global higher education landscape.

Alongside this institutional recognition, two faculty members from Hassan II University—Abdessalam Houmada and Idriss Benchekroun—received individual honors. Both were named among the top 200 scientists worldwide in the latest edition of the AD Scientific Index, underscoring the university’s strong culture of academic excellence.

With these accomplishments, Hassan II University continues to solidify its status as a leading research hub in Morocco. More importantly, it’s positioning itself—and the country—on a trajectory that aligns with international standards and ambitions in higher education.
