Houda Chafil has been appointed Managing Director of CIH Bank, where she will oversee the bank’s corporate and real estate banking activities. Chafil has held the position of Deputy Managing Director in the same division since September 2025. She previously headed the Resources and Finance Division at Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG), where she was responsible for the group’s financing and ESG strategy and the consolidated financial monitoring of more than 100 entities.
She has more than 25 years of experience in structured finance, capital markets and corporate banking. During her time at CDG, she oversaw the structuring of more than 20bn dirhams ($2bn) in transactions across several asset classes.
Her work included sovereign sukuk issuances, synthetic securitisations and other alternative financing instruments, contributing to the development of Morocco’s capital markets.
Her appointment comes as CIH Bank seeks to expand its corporate and real estate activities beyond its traditional retail banking business. The bank is also active in investment vehicles and structured capital markets.
Its priorities include financing linked to Morocco’s national housing aid programme, known as Daam Sakan, commercial real estate projects, structured debt and corporate lending linked to environmental, social and governance criteria.
CIH Bank is backed by CDG, Morocco’s state-owned financial institution and a major shareholder. The bank has more than 163bn dirhams in total assets.
