How did Former Mr. Olympia Shawn Rhoden die? More sad news has hit the bodybuilding world in already tragic year – pro bodybuilder and former Mr. Olympia champion Shawn Rhoden has reportedly died of a heart attack. He was 46 years old. The pro bodybuilder was a modern legend in the sport who also faced serious controversy in the years after winning the Mr. Olympia in 2018.
Rhoden is the fourth winner of Mr. Olympia to pass away. Sergio Oliva Sr. died in 2012, Larry Scott passed away in 2014, and Franco Columbu died in 2019. Rhoden’s death is the latest in a long string of notable competitors to have passed away in 2021. It comes less than one month after the passing of 212 bodybuilder George Peterson, III, who died during the week of the 2021 Olympia in Orlando, FL.
The publication said Rhoden’s trainer, Chris Aceto, also confirmed the bodybuilder’s death to close friends.
