Inwi is taking a major step forward in strengthening Morocco’s digital infrastructure with the arrival of the MEDUSA submarine cable in Nador. This new landing point represents a key milestone in the country’s push to become a central hub in the Mediterranean’s digital ecosystem.
Stretching 1,416 kilometers, the segment connecting Nador to Marseille creates a direct and high-capacity link between Morocco and Europe, adding a crucial new route to complement the existing connections. The project is designed to boost the reliability of international data traffic while keeping pace with the explosive growth in digital usage and the global surge in data flow.
With a transfer capacity of up to 24 terabits per second, MEDUSA stands among the most advanced and expansive cable systems in the Mediterranean. Its open-access model makes it particularly suited to meet the evolving needs of telecom operators and digital service providers. Once fully deployed by 2027, the full MEDUSA network will span 19 landing points, linking North Africa, Southern Europe, the Middle East, and Egypt.
This new connection further cements Morocco’s status as a critical regional digital hub. It also aligns with the goals of the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy, which aims to establish a strong foundation for digital sovereignty and build an inclusive tech ecosystem. With this initiative, inwi reinforces its role as a key player in Morocco’s digital transformation, supporting cloud services, artificial intelligence, and the digitization of both public administration and private enterprise.
The arrival of MEDUSA in Nador also reflects a broader commitment to bridging the digital divide across the country. By expanding access to ultra-high-speed broadband, the infrastructure upgrade not only strengthens the resilience and redundancy of Morocco’s national network but also boosts its technological competitiveness and appeal to international investors.
