Inwi has rolled out Morocco’s first private 5G network at a large industrial site in the Oriental region. The move was announced at GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech.

Ouassim El Arroussi, Inwi’s B2B Marketing Director, said: “We have just announced the deployment of the first private 5G network in Morocco. This network will serve an industrial unit in the Oriental region. It is a Moroccan first, but it is also a big industrial unit for our client at the African and global level.”

The project is a joint effort with China Mobile International and Huawei, offering private 5G for industries like mining, logistics, and renewable energy. “This initiative we are leading with China Mobile International, which has trusted Inwi to deploy and manage this private network for our shared client,” El Arroussi added.

The network supports ultra-fast, low-latency connections, making it possible to run IoT sensors and automated systems across the factory. “We hope this client can use this private 5G to improve productivity and manage their industrial activities in Morocco,” he said.

The Oriental region, home to the Nador West Med industrial hub, is a key focus for Morocco’s economic growth. Inwi’s 5G network aims to make it a centre for high-tech manufacturing and smart industrial zones.

El Arroussi added: “We are really happy to be part of this project and to help speed up digitalisation across all sectors in Morocco.”

Morocco officially started commercial 5G in November 2025, with Inwi, Maroc Telecom, and Orange Maroc switching on services nationwide. This is part of the Digital Morocco 2030 plan, which aims to cover 75% of the population by 2030.
