Gotion High-Tech has announced the appointment of Khalid Qalam as President of its Moroccan subsidiary, Gotion Power Morocco SA. Effective September 1, 2024, Qalam will assume executive leadership of the company, supported by General Manager Yang Chen.
Li Zhen, President of Gotion High-Tech, along with the board of directors, expressed their confidence in Qalam’s leadership, citing his extensive experience and proven track record. With over 30 years in the global automotive sector, Qalam is well-positioned to drive the development and management of Gotion Power Morocco SA, home to the first Gigafactory in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The board expressed full faith in the future of Gotion Power Morocco SA, conveying their best wishes to Qalam as he embarks on this new leadership role.

Born on December 25, 1963, Khalid Qalam holds dual Belgian and Moroccan nationality. His career spans more than three decades in the automotive sector across various international markets.
Qalam began his career in 1991 with Valeo in the Lighting and Signaling division, managing projects for the Japanese market. In 1997, he joined Magneti Marelli, a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, where he held key positions in Italy, France, and Germany, including Executive Vice-President and Chief Technical & Marketing Officer. He later became President and CEO of Magneti Marelli Mercosur in Brazil and served on the executive committee of the Italian group in 2009.
In 2015, under the initiative of Morocco’s Minister of Industry, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Qalam joined the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), leading the automotive department and spearheading international investments in the sector. In 2020, he established his own consulting firm, advising international automotive giants as well as institutional and governmental actors in Morocco.
