The Béni Mellal-Khénifra region is on a mission in China. A regional delegation, led by Council President Adil Barakat, recently visited Zhejiang province to advance the Béni Yakhlef Industrial Park project in Khouribga and foster economic exchanges. This strategic visit aims to attract Chinese investors and accelerate the industrial development of the region.
Signed in 2024 in Khouribga, the partnership agreement between Béni Mellal-Khénifra and Zhejiang is now entering a decisive phase. Meetings with the Governor of Zhejiang reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to fast-track the development of the 300-hectare industrial park, a major project set to boost the region’s economic landscape.
Beyond industry, the visit also served as a platform to explore collaborations in agriculture, tourism, and technology. As one of China’s most dynamic provinces, Zhejiang could become a key partner for Béni Mellal-Khénifra in these sectors.
Chinese companies were particularly encouraged to explore Morocco’s competitive advantages, including its business-friendly environment, skilled workforce, investment incentives under the Investment Charter, and strategic geographic position.
A highlight of the visit was the signing of a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Zhejiang Investors Association. This agreement is expected to facilitate the transfer of industrial and technological investments to the future Khouribga industrial hub, potentially attracting major Chinese corporations to the region.
With this visit, Béni Mellal-Khénifra is taking bold steps toward international cooperation and economic expansion. More than just an institutional exchange, this trip marks a critical step in positioning the region as a fast-growing industrial hub and attracting new investments.
Could this be the beginning of a “Made in Morocco” powered by Zhejiang’s expertise? Time will tell!
