The 19th edition of the Throne Cup in golf has officially begun at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, with competitions running until July 27. This prestigious event is organized by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association (ATH), and features 300 players from 18 Moroccan clubs.
Over five days, participants will compete in three categories: Seniors, Juniors, and Classic. The Seniors Throne Cup will take place on the blue course, with teams consisting of ten players plus a captain. Meanwhile, the Classic Throne Cup will be held on the red course, gathering the best Moroccan golfers in teams of ten plus a captain.
The Juniors Throne Cup, now in its second edition, will be hosted on the green course of the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam. Teams will include six players aged 9 to 14, plus a captain.

The elimination rounds are scheduled for July 23 and 24, following the “stroke play” format over two rounds. The quarter-finals and semi-finals will take place on July 25 and 26, respectively, using the “match play” format where points are calculated hole by hole. The final will be held on the morning of July 27, with the classification match in the afternoon.
Royal Golf Dar Es Salam of Rabat holds the record with ten Throne Cup titles, followed by Royal Golf Agadir, Palm Golf Casablanca, and Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia, each with two titles. Last year’s Throne Cup was won by Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia, who defeated Royal Golf Dar Es Salam of Rabat.
The opening ceremony on Monday evening saw the attendance of several notable figures, including the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, the first vice-president of FRMG, Mustapha Zine, and the presidents of the participating clubs.
