L’Équipe invites fans to vote ahead of 2025 Ballon d’Or awards

Just over a month before the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony on September 22, French sports daily L’Équipe is inviting fans to have their say. Supporters can vote online for their favorite male and female players, as well as for a series of additional awards.

Fans will be able to pick the season’s best goalkeeper for the Yachine Trophy, the top young player for the Kopa Trophy, and the best coach for the Cruyff Trophy, which honors both a men’s and a women’s team manager. There are also categories for the best men’s and women’s clubs of the year.

Several Moroccan stars are on this year’s shortlist: Achraf Hakimi for the Ballon d’Or, Yassine Bounou for the Yachine Trophy, and Ayyoub Bouaddi for the Kopa Trophy—names likely to draw strong support from voters in Morocco.

While the public poll does not replace the official process, it gives fans a platform to voice their preferences. The actual Ballon d’Or winners are chosen by a panel of 100 football journalists for the men’s award and 50 for the women’s, each representing one of the top 100 nations in the FIFA rankings. Voters submit a top ten list, awarding points on a sliding scale, with the player who amasses the most points claiming football’s most prestigious individual prize.
