Mafoder, a Moroccan industrial company that makes metal parts, construction materials and public infrastructure products, is opening a new subsidiary in Dakhla.

The move is part of the company’s plans to expand in southern Morocco, where several large infrastructure, mining and tourism projects are underway.

The new subsidiary, Mafoder Dakhla, will provide the same services as the group’s main operations in Casablanca.

Founded in 1985, Mafoder employs around 450 people. Its business includes making iron and steel parts for heavy industries such as mining, as well as products used in cities and public spaces.

The company supplies industrial components to major clients including OCP, Morocco’s phosphate producer. It also manufactures manhole covers, drainage systems, street furniture and lighting equipment for public projects.

Mafoder also produces facade panels, terrazzo and decorative concrete products used in buildings, hotels and other developments.

Dakhla was a natural choice because the region is seeing strong growth and major investment. The future Dakhla Atlantic Port is expected to create demand for industrial equipment, concrete products and infrastructure materials.

Having a base in Dakhla will also allow the company to serve customers more quickly and reduce the cost of transporting heavy products from Casablanca.

The region’s growing tourism industry is another opportunity. New hotels, resorts and urban development projects are creating demand for both public infrastructure products and building materials.

Mafoder is also looking to strengthen its relationship with industrial customers in the south, including mining operations linked to OCP’s phosphate activities near Laayoune.

Beyond Morocco, the company is targeting new business in West Africa and the Middle East.
