Marchica rolls out new 2026–27 redevelopment plan in Nador

Agence Marchica has started a new round of city projects in Nador for 2026–2027, focusing on the old city centre and other key areas in the province.

The agency said on 17 February 2026 that several contracts have now been awarded. It says this marks a faster push to reshape and modernise the city.

One of the main projects is the makeover of Nador’s historic centre, known as the “Damier” area. Boulevard Mohammed V will also be redesigned. The goal is to bring new life to the area and make it more attractive for residents and visitors.

There are also plans to upgrade the Ghassi neighbourhood in Beni Ensar to improve daily life for people living there. Work will continue on the Jnan Al Matar project, which is expected to become a new centre for business and activity in the area.

The projects were prepared with the Province of Nador and local councils. The agency says they follow its plan to improve city infrastructure and support long-term, sustainable growth.

At the same time, a green space maintenance plan began in January 2026. It covers nearly 20 hectares and has a budget of 18m dirhams.

The work includes cleaning and maintaining the Nador Corniche, Boulevards Al Matar and Taouima, and Avenue Hassan II in Beni Ensar. More than 50 workers are taking care of trees and palm trees, cutting grass, watering plants and fixing irrigation systems. New plants are also being added to increase greenery.

The agency is also clearing riverbeds in its project areas to help rainwater flow better and lower the risk of flooding. More than 40 tonnes of waste have been removed to stop it from ending up in the lagoon.

These projects come as the region prepares for the opening of Nador West Med, a major new port expected to become an important centre for trade and industry in eastern Morocco.

Marchica says all these efforts are part of a wider plan to support steady and sustainable growth as the region goes through big changes.
