Maroc Telecom has taken a major step forward in its digital responsibility strategy. On Tuesday in Marrakech, the telecoms operator signed a partnership agreement with Morocco’s National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP), officially joining the “DATA-TIKA” program.

The agreement, concluded on the sidelines of Gitex Africa Morocco 2025, reflects the group’s strong commitment to safeguarding customer privacy while supporting innovation and digital transformation.

“This partnership is a strong signal of our commitment to protecting personal data while advancing the innovation and digital transformation of our company,” said Mohamed Benchâaboun, Chairman of Maroc Telecom’s Management Board. “We firmly believe that responsible data governance is key to building trust and developing a sustainable digital economy.”

Created under Morocco’s Law 09-08 on the protection of personal data, the “DATA-TIKA” program aims to elevate data as a strategic asset—while ensuring that privacy remains a fundamental right. The CNDP’s president, Omar Seghrouchni, summed it up succinctly: “To live digitally, we must breathe personal data protection.”

The agreement is built on three core pillars. First, CNDP will assist Maroc Telecom in strengthening its compliance with Law 09-08. This includes training sessions, awareness campaigns, and early access to a digital platform designed to streamline data protection processes.

The second pillar focuses on rethinking data governance. Joint workshops and brainstorming sessions will tackle emerging challenges such as data classification, cloud hosting, and cross-border transfers.

The third axis centers on developing clear guidelines for trust-based digital services. Maroc Telecom and CNDP will work together to define best practices around hosting, messaging, and digital services to ensure secure, transparent operations across the operator’s digital ecosystem.
