Marrakech now boasts a total of 1,934 officially classified tourist accommodations across all categories, offering a combined capacity of 75,026 beds. These figures, recently updated by Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, reflect the city’s robust and steadily expanding hospitality sector.

The ministry issued a clarification following misleading reports circulating in the media and on social platforms. It stressed that the current numbers include a wide range of lodging options—everything from hotels and guesthouses to lodges, farm stays, hostels, and campsites. The data is comprehensive and represents all types of licensed and classified tourist accommodations.

Since 2021 alone, Marrakech has welcomed 240 new establishments, adding 5,619 beds to the city’s capacity. This steady growth highlights the sustained momentum of Marrakech’s hotel and tourism infrastructure, reinforcing its status as a leading destination not only in Morocco but across the region.

The statistics are drawn from the ministry’s official database and have been validated by regional classification committees. They also serve as the foundation for the figures presented by Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor, who relies on verified, regularly updated sources to reflect the sector’s true dynamics.

In its statement, the ministry expressed concern over the misinterpretation and distortion of these figures, warning that such inaccuracies could harm the reputation of a sector experiencing clear and measurable growth. It reiterated that Marrakech remains one of Morocco’s tourism powerhouses, and the ongoing launch of new facilities is a strong indicator of investor confidence—both domestic and international—in the city’s enduring appeal and market potential.
