Marrakech has further solidified its status as a premier international tourist destination, with two of its prestigious hotels being named among the world’s 50 best hotels. La Mamounia and the Royal Mansour ranked 31st and 38th, respectively, in the 2024 list curated by the World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, with results announced recently in London.
The Royal Mansour, a jewel of Moroccan luxury hospitality, also took home the coveted award for the “Most Welcoming Hotel” in the world. This award, which highlights excellence in hospitality, recognizes the hotel’s ability to offer each guest their own private palace with a personal butler.
To award the Art of Hospitality prize, academy members were asked to vote based on their best hospitality experiences over an 18-month period. They evaluated elements such as the hotel’s ambiance, unique guest experiences, and the warmth of its overall environment.
The ranking’s rigorous methodology has been widely praised, garnering attention from industry experts and media outlets alike in this highly anticipated second edition.
The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy consists of hundreds of hospitality industry professionals from around the globe. These experts assess the performance of thousands of hotels worldwide to compile the final list.
Across Africa, only four hotels made the prestigious list. Alongside the two Moroccan establishments, two South African hotels—Mount Nelson in Cape Town and Singita in Kruger National Park—ranked 28th and 44th, respectively.
