Following an international tender led by Bénin Manutentions S.A, Marsa Maroc, a leader in port operations in Morocco, has been selected to manage terminals 1 and 5 at the Port of Cotonou in Benin. A management agreement between the two parties will be signed shortly, according to an official statement from Marsa Maroc.
As part of this partnership, which emphasizes operational excellence, Bénin Manutentions S.A will be supported by Marsa Maroc in initiating and overseeing operations at the two terminals.
Marsa Maroc will utilize its extensive expertise and strong relationships with leading international shipping companies to position Bénin Manutentions S.A as a high-performing operator, contributing to the development of logistic corridors in the region. The company has committed to ensuring the terminals are operational within the agreed timelines and according to international standards. Additionally, several modernization projects will be implemented in line with the Beninese government’s vision.
This partnership aligns with the South-South cooperation strategy driven by royal directives, where Marsa Maroc and Bénin Manutentions S.A will collaborate to generate economic value for the entire Beninese port ecosystem.
By formalizing this partnership, Marsa Maroc reinforces its ambition to expand internationally, in accordance with its new strategy, “Marsa 2030,” the statement concluded.
