In the quiet commune of Laqsir, located in the province of El Hajeb, a new chapter of industrial growth is unfolding. MCEG, a subsidiary of Bugshan Morocco, has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art facility for natural spring water production. Under the brand name ACYL, the company aims to carve a strong position in Morocco’s bottled water market while setting new environmental benchmarks.
Backed by a MAD 150 million investment, the new factory boasts a high-speed production capacity of 45,000 bottles per hour. But beyond the numbers, this initiative reflects a deeper ambition — to establish a sustainable, inclusive industrial model rooted in quality and innovation.
The launch ceremony was attended by Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, who praised the project as “a productive, sustainable investment with strong socio-economic impact for the El Hajeb province.” He emphasized the project’s environmental vision, highlighting the integration of renewable energy production, wastewater treatment, and responsible resource management.
Already, more than 300 jobs have been created, including 110 direct positions. MCEG has also committed to continuous training programs aimed at empowering young local talent. “This project marks a key milestone not only for our development but also for the local economic ecosystem,” said Hafid Alaoui, MCEG’s General Manager.
Sourced from the Sebou basin, renowned for its mineral balance, ACYL is a light and naturally balanced spring water that meets both national and international standards. Every stage of production is closely monitored to deliver a product that is pure, safe, and aligned with the expectations of Moroccan consumers.
ACYL also breaks new ground with the launch of Morocco’s first tethered cap, designed to stay attached to the bottle. The innovation helps reduce plastic waste and simplifies recycling, aligning with European environmental standards. A first-of-its-kind move that puts ACYL at the forefront of Morocco’s eco-friendly packaging movement.
The El Hajeb site is equipped with 360 solar panels, covering up to 40% of its electricity needs. It also includes a wastewater treatment facility, allowing all treated water to be repurposed for irrigating a neighboring organic farm. Circular economy principles are built into the project from the ground up.
Looking ahead, MCEG plans to expand production capacity and strengthen its distribution network across Morocco. With ACYL, the company aims to become a household name in spring water, offering hydration that respects both nature and communities.
What flows from this project is more than just water — it’s a bold new standard in industrial innovation, sustainability, and local engagement.
