A total of 1,566 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) infection and 870 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco over the past 24 hours, the ministry of Health said Saturday.

The number of primary vaccinated people is 10,356,845, while the number of fully vaccinated (1st and 2nd doses) stands at 9,221,525, said the ministry in its daily report on the situation of Covid-19.

The new cases bring to 541,405 the total number of infections since the first case was reported in Morocco in March 2020. The number of people who have recovered has risen to 523,998, representing a cure rate of 96.8%.

The new infections were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (708), Souss-Massa (258), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (218), Marrakech-Safi (170), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (77), Fez-Meknes (36), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (22), Draa-Tafilalet (22), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (15), the Eastern region (14), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (14) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (12).

The total number of deaths rose to 9,360 with 9 new fatalities, recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (04) Souss-Massa (2), Marrakech-Safi (1), Fez-Meknes (1) and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (1).

The number of active cases has reached 8,047 including 288 in a critical or severe condition.
