The Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM) has released its latest statistics for August 2024, providing an insightful overview of the country’s automotive market trends. Here are the five key points:

  1. Increase in new car sales: By the end of August 2024, new car sales in Morocco rose by 2.74%, reaching a total of 108,552 units. This steady growth signals continued demand in the automotive sector.
  2. Rise in registrations: New registrations for passenger vehicles (PV) saw a modest increase of 1.24%, totaling 97,164 units. Light commercial vehicles (LCV) experienced a significant surge of 17.55%, with 11,388 units registered by the end of August.
  3. New brands join AIVAM: The Moroccan auto market welcomed the addition of new brands to the AIVAM roster, including Changan, Dong Feng, and Tata, reflecting the market’s growing diversity and competitiveness.
  4. August sales growth: August 2024 was a strong month for new car sales, with an 8.26% increase leading to 12,047 units sold. This monthly growth indicates a positive trend heading into the latter part of the year.
  5. Segment-specific growth: In August alone, passenger vehicle sales grew by 7.73%, reaching 10,415 units. Meanwhile, light commercial vehicle sales rose by 11.78%, totaling 1,632 units. These figures highlight robust performance across both market segments.
