Morocco’s National Foundation of Museums is stepping up its efforts to make culture more accessible to young people. The organization has just announced a partnership with the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) network, a move aimed at making it easier for students, teachers, and young adults to visit Moroccan museums while also offering them a range of international benefits.
This initiative follows the momentum of the recent Night of Museums and Cultural Spaces, an event that put youth at the heart of its celebrations. Building on that success, the Foundation has also joined forces with both the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Higher Education to grant free, year-round access to its museums for all students, schoolchildren, and educators across the country.
The collaboration goes beyond Morocco’s borders as well. International visitors holding ISIC, IYTC, or ITIC cards will now receive a 50% discount on admission to any of the museums managed by the Foundation. This measure is designed to open Morocco’s rich cultural heritage to a wider global audience. Meanwhile, for Moroccan youth, students, and teachers, the same cards will serve as proof of status, unlocking cultural access and benefits not only within Morocco but in other countries too.
At the core of this initiative is a shared vision: bringing young people closer to culture and strengthening the educational role of museums. Each museum under the Foundation’s wing is carefully curated around a specific theme, deeply rooted in the history and cultural identity of its region. The goal is to encourage visitors to see their heritage in a new light and to foster a deeper appreciation of Morocco’s diverse cultural legacy.
Currently, the National Foundation of Museums operates 21 museums across the country and continues to expand by opening new institutions. This ongoing effort reflects a strong commitment to preserving and passing on the nation’s collective memory, ensuring that culture remains alive, accessible, and relevant for generations to come.
