The Ministry of Health on Wednesday called on citizens to comply with preventive measures in order to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We urge citizens to comply with precautionary measures,” Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb told the media, noting that “if need be, we would be forced to tighten restrictions, which would have a negative impact on several sectors.”
“Given the epidemiological situation in the past two days, we have noticed an accelerated increase in COVID-19 cases compared to the pattern observed during the past months,” he noted.
Thanks to the high royal instructions and the proactive management of the pandemic, the Kingdom “has achieved significant results in terms of control of the epidemiological situation,” he recalled.
The minister said that significant progress has been made in terms of vaccination, which led to reach nearly one-third of the targeted population. “These are very important results on which we should capitalize, in compliance with preventives measures without which we could face a new surge,” he warned.
Morocco has confirmed 776 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases reported since the start of the outbreak to 531,361.
