Following direct instructions from King Mohammed VI, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity officially launched the 2025 edition of “Marhaba” on Tuesday, June 10. This annual initiative is designed to assist Moroccans living abroad as they return home during the summer months.
Working in coordination with multiple national and international partners, the Foundation has activated its comprehensive welcome system not just across Morocco, but also in key entry points throughout France, Spain, and Italy. This year marks the 25th edition of the program, which continues under the personal leadership of King Mohammed VI.
A key development this year is the expansion of Marhaba’s infrastructure within Morocco. Two new welcome centers have been added at the airports of Laayoune and Dakhla, bringing the total number of operational sites to 26. These facilities are strategically located to accommodate returning travelers by sea, air, and land.
Inside Morocco, 20 locations are now fully functional. These include the ports of Tangier Med, Tangier City, Al Hoceima, and Nador Bni Nsar, as well as major airports like Casablanca Mohammed V, Rabat-Salé, Oujda Angad, Agadir Al Massira, Fes Saiss, Marrakech Menara, and several others including the newly added Laayoune Hassan I and Dakhla. Additional centers have been set up at highway rest stops and at the border crossings of Bab Sebta and Mellila.
Internationally, six Marhaba welcome points are open at key European ports frequented by Moroccan travelers. These include Genoa in Italy, Sète and Marseille in France, and Motril, Almería, and Algeciras in Spain.
To support the millions of Moroccans expected to make the journey home between June 10 and September 15, the Foundation has deployed over 1,200 personnel. This includes staff members, social workers, doctors, medical assistants, and volunteers—all trained to offer assistance, respond to emergencies, and ensure a smooth experience for returning citizens.
Beyond the physical assistance provided at Marhaba centers, the Central Coordination Office based in Rabat plays a vital role. It monitors all field operations, coordinates responses with partner organizations, and oversees the dedicated Marhaba helpline service.
This 24/7 helpline is available throughout the entire operation, providing critical support in multiple countries. Travelers can call from abroad using the numbers +212 537 20 5566 and +212 537 20 6666. From within Morocco, the toll-free numbers 080 000 23 23 and 0808 69 07 93 are accessible. Region-specific contact lines are also available: +39 35 1212 9489 for Genoa (Italy); +33 780 716 093 (Marseille) and +33 617 299 161 (Sète) in France; and +34 631 669 433 (Motril), +34 632 508 290 (Almería), and +34 632 540 700 (Algeciras) in Spain.
