Morocco named Spain’s top international destination for 2025

Morocco wins two top Spanish tourism awards for 2025 as more travellers from Spain choose the kingdom for easy access, good value and richer holiday experiences.

Spain’s main travel agencies association, CEAV, has named Morocco International Destination of the Year 2025, praising what it called a consistent and well-targeted strategy aimed at Spanish travel sellers. The award was presented to Achraf Fayda, head of the Moroccan National Tourist Office, ONMT.

CEAV represents thousands of travel agencies across Spain and sits at the heart of the country’s tourism industry.

Morocco also picked up a regional vote of confidence. The Andalusian Federation of Travel Agencies, FAAV, named the Kingdom the preferred international destination among agencies in southern Spain. The prize was handed to Mr Fayda by Antonio Caño, a senior figure in the federation.

The timing is no accident. Air links between Spain and Morocco continue to expand, alongside busy ferry routes from southern Spain, making short breaks and longer stays easier to sell.

Morocco is just 14 kilometres away at its closest point. It feels different and exciting, yet there is no long flight or jet lag. Add prices that still look reasonable compared with many European resorts, and the appeal is obvious. Spanish visitors are also staying longer, around eight nights on average.

Achraf Fayda, who runs the tourist office, picked up the awards and said the focus has been on steady work rather than quick wins. The team has refreshed the offer and worked closely with Spanish tour firms to make Morocco easy to sell and easy to visit.
