Morocco has presented its digital and cybersecurity plans at a meeting in Madrid, where it was guest of honour.
The Pre Ministerial Summit on Piracy, Cybersecurity and Justice brought together judges, regulators and officials from Latin America to discuss how legal systems can use new technology while keeping digital networks safe.
Morocco’s ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, said the country is working towards a secure and people-focused digital shift. She said the strategy follows the guidance of Mohammed VI and is based on long-term reforms.
Morocco said it has upgraded its technology systems and put in place national cybersecurity plans. It now ranks 34th in the Global Cybersecurity Index, placing it among the leading countries in its region.
At the event, Ms Benyaich received an award for Morocco’s work in digital reform and cybersecurity.
An industry report says Morocco’s cybersecurity market is worth around $1.2bn. It links growth to a 30 percent rise in cyberattacks, wider use of digital services, and more spending by public and private bodies.
Demand is rising for services such as threat detection, security monitoring, intelligence sharing and response to cyber incidents across government, finance, telecoms, health and industry.
