Morocco closed 2025 with a historic performance in tourism, raking in a record-breaking 138 billion dirhams in foreign currency revenue. This marks a 21 percent jump from 2024 and far surpasses the national tourism roadmap’s original goal of reaching 120 billion dirhams by 2026, a target now blown out of the water a full year ahead of schedule.

The country welcomed 20 million visitors over the year, setting a new milestone for Moroccan tourism. A more diverse and appealing tourism offering helped attract a broader international audience, reinforcing Morocco’s place as a leading destination on the global travel map.

Domestic tourism also played a major role in this success. Moroccan residents contributed 48 billion dirhams in spending during 2025, underscoring the growing importance of local travel in driving the sector’s momentum and boosting the national economy.

Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor sees these numbers as a clear sign of transformation. She emphasized that success is no longer defined solely by tourist arrivals, but increasingly by the economic value created. For her, the sector now stands as a powerful engine for sustainable development and job creation at the local level.
