Morocco has launched a major campaign to attract more visitors from Germany, signing new aviation and distribution deals at the ITB Berlin.
The country aims to increase German arrivals by 25% over the next three years. The move comes as Morocco accelerates infrastructure projects ahead of co-hosting the FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
The plan is being led by the Moroccan National Tourist Office. A delegation of 140 tourism professionals presented a 1,000 square metre stand in Berlin.
A central focus is improved air links. Agreements with Condor, Eurowings and Discover Airlines will increase overall air capacity by 34% for the 2025 to 2026 season.
Royal Air Maroc has also expanded its network, launching new routes between Nador and Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. A direct Casablanca to Munich service has recently been introduced.
Officials say the emphasis on direct flights between German cities and regional airports such as Agadir and Tangier is intended to spread tourism beyond Marrakech and Casablanca.
Germany is Morocco’s seventh largest source market. In 2025, more than 930,000 German tourists visited the country, an increase of 11% on the previous year.
Search data suggests growing interest in less traditional destinations.
Essaouira has recorded a 724% rise in search interest from German users, driven by surfing and its coastal setting. Agadir remains popular for winter sun holidays, supported by a 34% fall in average ticket prices from German airports. Sustainability is also becoming more important, with the tourist office promoting eco tourism in the Souss-Massa and Oriental.
The campaign forms part of Morocco’s “Maroc 2023 to 2026” roadmap, a 600 million dollar investment programme aimed at attracting 17.5 million tourists annually by 2026.
In preparation for the 2030 World Cup, the country plans to create 43,000 new hotel beds and launch a “Go Tourism” programme to support 1,700 local startups.
Morocco has also strengthened partnerships with major travel operators including TUI and DER Touristik, as it seeks to secure long term growth in the German market.
