Morocco will officially begin the holy month of Ramadan on Sunday, March 2, 2025. The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs confirmed the date in an official statement, following the traditional moon-sighting process.

According to the ministry, observations were conducted after sunset on Friday, February 28, 2025, in collaboration with regional Islamic affairs representatives, official observers, and units of the Royal Armed Forces assigned to this task. Since the crescent moon was not sighted, the current Islamic month, Sha’ban, will be completed as a full 30-day cycle. As a result, Ramadan will commence on Sunday, March 2, following the conclusion of Sha’ban on Saturday, March 1.

The ministry’s statement also included well wishes for King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, the entire royal family, and the Moroccan people. It expressed hopes that the sacred month would bring peace, prosperity, and blessings to the entire Muslim community worldwide.
