Morocco vs. Niger sparks ticket frenzy ahead of World Cup qualifier

With just ten days to go before kickoff, excitement is building fast for the upcoming showdown between Morocco and Niger. Scheduled for September 5 at 8 p.m. at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, the event has already sparked a wave of enthusiasm across the country. On Tuesday, organizers expressed their delight over the overwhelming response from Moroccan fans.

Ticket sales officially opened at 8 a.m. that morning, and by midday, a staggering 47,555 tickets had already been snapped up. In addition, all 62 private boxes had been claimed, according to figures released by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation on its official website.

Breaking down the sales, 3,210 tickets were purchased in the top-tier category, 13,312 in the second tier, and 28,136 in the third. On the premium side, 1,863 hospitality lounge passes were sold, alongside 885 seats in the VIP tribune and 149 in the upper tier section.

Given the surging interest, organizers are urging fans to continue purchasing tickets exclusively through official platforms and to follow all event guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe experience on match day.

This highly anticipated fixture is part of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Morocco currently leads Group E with a perfect 15 points from five matches, placing them well ahead of Tanzania, which has nine points, while Zambia and Niger are tied at six points each, with Niger trailing due to goal difference.

Under the current qualification format, nine African teams will earn direct spots in the World Cup, while a tenth will have to compete in an intercontinental playoff tournament organized by FIFA.
