Morocco’s top security chief Abdellatif Hammouchi receives Interpol’s highest honor

During the closing ceremony of Interpol’s 93rd General Assembly in Marrakech, the organization awarded its highest honor to Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of both Morocco’s National Police and Domestic Intelligence. The distinction recognizes Hammouchi’s long-standing commitment to advancing international security and strengthening cross-border law enforcement cooperation.

This prestigious award reflects years of effort by Hammouchi to tighten ties between Interpol and Arab nations while playing a key role in combatting transnational organized crime. According to a statement from Morocco’s General Directorate for National Security, the accolade not only honors operational achievements but also acknowledges Hammouchi’s leadership in promoting solidarity, collaboration, and information-sharing across global security networks. His work has been credited with fostering a more united response to regional instability and a stronger foundation for international justice.

Throughout the assembly, Hammouchi held an impressive number of bilateral meetings—43 in total—with representatives from member states and international bodies attending the event. These talks focused on enhancing operational coordination and building stronger institutional relationships among law enforcement agencies worldwide.

The award ceremony was attended by Interpol’s top leadership, including its president and secretary general, as well as members of its executive committee. Also present were heads of national delegations and officials from major international and regional organizations, underscoring the significance of the honor and the global support for Hammouchi’s contributions to public safety.
