Morocco’s tourism booms with 8.9 million visitors in first half of 2025

Morocco welcomed 8.9 million visitors in the first half of 2025, a remarkable 19% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge means 1.4 million more tourists chose Morocco over the past six months, underscoring the country’s growing appeal as one of the most popular destinations in the region.

June alone set a new record, attracting 1.7 million arrivals—a year-on-year rise of 11%. It was the highest number of visitors ever recorded for the month, setting the stage for what looks to be a strong summer travel season. This time of year traditionally brings a surge in tourism, and the trend is expected to fuel further growth for the sector in the months ahead.

Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, praised the figures, highlighting the country’s increasing ability to draw visitors from around the world. She emphasized that the focus for the second half of the year will be on expanding air transport options and fast-tracking the development of accommodations and tourist activities to meet the expectations of an increasingly demanding market.
